The Ascension Episcopal Church in Stillwater is known for its outreach to the greater community and the world.
The parish has several ongoing projects. The Episcopal Community Services has a permanent office at the church and is operated by social worker Joan Countryman. Joan heads a program for single parent families called "Moving Forward Together." The church also supports Prison Ministry, transitional housing, the emergency fund and food shelf, and Sunday Suppers. The Sunday Supper is a free meal given at Ascension the last Sunday of each month.
Over seas the parish has supported the education of Africans in this country, raised money for Books for Africa, and built toilets in Mozambique. The church also sponsored a mission trip to Honduras.
We look forward to more outreach projects in the future. Our goal is to spend at least 10% of our budget on outreach each year.
