Matching funds opportunity!
A member of Ascension has generously offered to match the 2007 pledge amounts of first-time pledgers to the Stewardship Campaign, up to $15,000. For example, by pledging $2,000 for 2007, you will effectively be contributing $4,000 to pay for the programs and services in place at Ascension.



We are asking all parishioners to do two things differently in 2007
1.	Pledge to two campaigns – the annual Stewardship Drive to help the Vestry plan the operating budget, and the Capital Fund Drive to help eliminate the mortgage debt and decrease the burden on operating expenses.
2.	Pledge for a period of five years. This will not only help the Vestry plan for more than one year, but it will also help guide our individual financial commitments to the parish.
Objective:
	Raise funds needed to pay for the programs and services in place at Ascension, so we can balance the budget in 2007. Our stewardship pledges will determine whether or not Ascension expands or contracts. To maintain all of its current programs and activities in 2007, Ascension will need additional revenue.
Timeline:
	5 years. To help you and the Vestry plan for more than one year at a time, the Stewardship Drive is now a 5-year pledge program. This will allow the Vestry and the finance committee to conduct strategic, long-term planning, which is especially important for an historic building such as ours. Another advantage of this new 5-year pledge program is that now you can plan ahead for annual increases in your stewardship pledge and steadily aspire toward tithing.
Pledge Guidelines:
	Return your pledge form and survey to Ascension Church no later than October 29, 2006.
	There are many ways to determine the amount of your stewardship pledge. One is to consider the value you put on your experience at Ascension Church as your guide; your pledge will be a form of thanksgiving for this spiritual and supportive community. Another way is to think about the blessings in your life; by pledging, you return to God the gifts received by His grace. A third way to figure out how much to pledge is to imagine all of the ministry Ascension can accomplish once we overcome our financial challenges.
	Please keep in mind that every pledge matters, regardless of the amount. All of us - every single household - are being called to contribute to the Stewardship Drive, because all of us gain by being members of Ascension.
	A pledge is not a contract, and it may be adjusted as your financial circumstances change.
